Hello, I’m Kimberly Hayman, founder and principal consultant of Provident Steps Supportive Ministries, Inc. I am passionate about empowering and equipping communities to pursue holistic wellness. My work is deeply shaped by my personal journey, lived experience, and a lifelong connection to faith and community.
I grew up in a small, close-knit town in the bootheel of Missouri, where church life was central to everyday living. From an early age, I witnessed the unique role local churches play in the lives of people—not only as places of worship, but as sources of care, advocacy, and restoration. I saw churches meet community needs, alleviate suffering, confront injustice, and affirm the dignity of people, even in the midst of struggle.
That early foundation stayed with me as I entered the nursing profession. After graduating from nursing school, I quickly noticed the positive impact pastors and church members had on patients during hospital visits. At the same time, I observed a troubling pattern: many patients were repeatedly readmitted for the same conditions. I came to understand that once discharged, people returned home doing the best they could with the knowledge and resources available to them.
While I knew churches to be communities of care, I also recognized that not all churches had access to evolving health information or awareness of available resources. That realization sparked a deeper understanding of the gap between care, education, and community support—one that would eventually shape my calling and purpose.
With more than 34 years of nursing experience, I have developed a deep appreciation for what it truly takes to serve communities well. Community engagement—anchored in faith—now fuels my vision and work. I firmly believe in the promise and power found at the intersection of faith, community, and health.
Provident Steps Supportive Ministries was founded to help bridge the gap between community needs, learning opportunities, and access to resources. Through this work, I bring knowledge, insight, lived experience, and a diverse skill set to partner with churches and organizations seeking to develop community-driven strategies that support learning, growth, and holistic well-being.
